Equipment

  • 1 large saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 colander
  • 1 serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 pound carrots peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley optional

Instructions

  • Place the sliced carrots in a large saucepan and add water.
  • Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 8 minutes until carrots are tender but firm.
  • Drain the carrots using a colander and return them to the saucepan.
  • Add the butter, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon to the carrots in the saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and forms a glaze.
  • Continue to cook for another 5 minutes until carrots are fully coated and glazed.
  • Transfer the glazed carrots to a serving bowl.
  • Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving if desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure the carrots are evenly sliced to ensure even cooking. Adjust the amount of brown sugar based on your preference for sweetness. If you prefer a thicker glaze, let the mixture simmer a bit longer to reduce it further. Fresh parsley adds a lovely color contrast and a hint of freshness to the final dish. Enjoy your Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots as a delicious and easy side dish to complement any main course.
