Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium head of cabbage chopped
  • 1 can 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  • Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned.
  • Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook until slightly softened.
  • Add drained diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano, and paprika, and mix well.
  • Transfer the mixture to a large baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, choose a cabbage that is firm and heavy for its size, ensuring freshness and a tender bake. Adjust the seasoning to taste, and feel free to add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick. If you prefer a creamier texture, consider adding a bit of cream or sour cream to the beef mixture before baking.
