Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water and add the yeast, allowing it to proof until foamy.
  • Add the melted butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually add the remaining flour, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces, shaping each piece into a roll.
  • Place the rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with a mixture of beaten egg and milk.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra soft texture, you can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with bread flour. If you prefer a sweeter roll, increase the sugar to 1/3 cup. Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise, and adjust the resting time based on your kitchen temperature.
