Equipment

  • 1 oven-safe baking dish
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups water boiling

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until a smooth batter forms.
  • Pour the batter into the oven-safe baking dish.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter.
  • Carefully pour the boiling water over the entire mixture in the baking dish without stirring.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cobbler rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

When pouring the boiling water over the batter, do it gently and uniformly to ensure a proper cobbler texture. The water will create a sauce-like consistency at the bottom while it bakes. For an enhanced flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Serve the cobbler warm, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for an indulgent treat.
