Equipment

  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 Ladle
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 peeler
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 Wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 3 medium potatoes peeled and diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Heat butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add diced onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until soft.
  • Add the diced potatoes to the pot and stir briefly.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  • Use a wooden spoon to slightly mash some of the potatoes in the pot.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and black pepper.
  • Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes until the soup thickens.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and shredded cheddar cheese.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can substitute half of the heavy cream with sour cream. If you prefer a thicker soup, use a potato masher to crush more of the potatoes. Feel free to add cooked bacon bits or diced ham for extra protein and flavor. Always taste the soup before serving to adjust the seasoning to your preference.
