Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • Add applesauce, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
  • Stir the mixture with a spatula until well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack.
  • Allow the bars to cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice into bars and serve.

Notes

For best results, ensure the applesauce is smooth and free of lumps for even texture throughout the bars. If you prefer a chewier bar, consider using quick oats instead of rolled oats. Adjust the sweetness by using unsweetened applesauce or reducing the brown sugar if desired. Additionally, these bars can be easily customized by adding nuts or dried fruits like raisins or cranberries to the batter before baking.
