Equipment

  • 1 Medium saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 potato masher or blender
  • 1 Knife

Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium apples peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Place the chopped apples into the medium saucepan.
  • Add water, sugar, and ground cinnamon to the saucepan.
  • Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan.
  • Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until the apples are soft.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Use a potato masher or blender to mash the apples to the desired consistency.
  • Allow the applesauce to rest for 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a smoother texture, blend the applesauce thoroughly. Adjust sugar and cinnamon to taste, depending on the sweetness of the apples used. Applesauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container.
