Equipment

  • 1 Loaf pan
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 10 slices bacon

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, and milk.
  • Add the egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the mixture.
  • Mix everything together until well combined.
  • Shape the meat mixture into a loaf form and place it in a loaf pan.
  • Spread ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Lay bacon slices over the top, tucking the ends under the loaf.
  • Place the loaf pan on a baking sheet to catch any drippings.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Once done, remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For best results, make sure not to overmix the meat mixture as this can lead to a dense meatloaf. If you prefer a sweeter glaze, you can add a tablespoon of brown sugar to the ketchup before spreading it on top. When selecting bacon, choose a thinner cut so it wraps easily around the meatloaf and crisps up nicely during baking.
