Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread cubed, preferably day-old
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 ripe bananas sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Add the milk and heavy cream to the egg mixture and whisk until well combined.
  • Place the cubed bread and sliced bananas in the baking dish.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the bread and bananas, pressing down gently to ensure all the bread is soaked.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the top and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set.
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For an added twist, consider including some chopped nuts or chocolate chips into the bread mixture before baking. Additionally, using day-old bread helps the pudding absorb the custard better, resulting in a more flavorful and textured dish. If you prefer a less sweet pudding, you can reduce the amount of granulated sugar according to your taste.
