Ingredients
  

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 4 sandwich buns
  • 1 cup coleslaw mix
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Season the chicken breasts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  • Place the chicken on the grill and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side.
  • Brush the chicken with barbecue sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes on each side.
  • Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • Toast the sandwich buns on the grill until golden brown.
  • Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun.
  • Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each bun.
  • Slice the grilled chicken and place it on the cheese.
  • Top the chicken with coleslaw mix.
  • Close the sandwich with the top half of the bun.
  • Serve immediately with extra barbecue sauce on the side.

Notes

For the best flavor, marinate the chicken in barbecue sauce for a few hours before grilling. You can add a smoky flavor by using a charcoal grill or adding a few drops of liquid smoke to the barbecue sauce. Toasting the buns enhances their texture and helps to keep the sandwich from getting soggy. Feel free to customize the sandwich with your favorite toppings, such as pickles or onions, for extra crunch and flavor.
