Equipment

  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 Skillet
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 strainer

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin thinly sliced
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat the vegetable oil in the skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the beef slices and cook until browned, then remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  • Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce, and bring to a simmer.
  • Add the egg noodles to the pot and cook until al dente.
  • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
  • Stir the slurry into the skillet to thicken the sauce.
  • Return the beef to the skillet and mix with noodles.
  • Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
  • Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure the beef is sliced thinly and cooked in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet, which can prevent proper browning. Adjust the thickness of the sauce by adding more or less cornstarch slurry, depending on your preference. For extra flavor, consider adding mushrooms or peas to the dish.
