Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 3 clove garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro chopped (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in onion and garlic, cooking until onion is translucent.
  • Mix in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  • Add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, beef broth, and tomato paste.
  • Stir in sugar, bay leaf, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 hour.
  • Add chopped red and green bell peppers and continue to simmer for an additional 30 minutes.
  • Remove bay leaf and let chili rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

For best results, consider making the chili a day ahead of serving to allow the flavors to meld together even more. Adjust the spice level by adding more or less cayenne pepper to suit your taste, and feel free to experiment with additional toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or avocado slices for extra flavor and texture.
