Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 pastry brush

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Puff pastry thawed
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Blueberries fresh
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth any creases.
  • Cut the pastry into 8 equal squares.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  • Top the cream cheese mixture with a few blueberries.
  • Fold the corners of each square towards the center to enclose the filling slightly.
  • In a small bowl, mix the beaten egg with water to create an egg wash.
  • Brush the egg wash over the tops of the pastries.
  • Place the pastries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffy.
  • Allow the pastries to cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes.
  • Dust the pastries with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure that the puff pastry is fully thawed before you begin assembling the pastries to prevent cracking. If the pastry becomes too warm and sticky while working with it, chill it briefly in the refrigerator. Feel free to experiment with other berry fillings, such as raspberries or strawberries, for a different flavor profile.
