Equipment

  • 1 large saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 potato masher
  • 1 Sterilized jar
  • 1 Ladle
  • 1 funnel

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Instructions

  • Place blueberries in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the dried lavender, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest to the saucepan.
  • Stir the mixture frequently until the sugar dissolves.
  • Use a potato masher to gently crush the blueberries as they begin to soften.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
  • Continue simmering the mixture until it thickens, approximately 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the jam to cool slightly.
  • Pour the jam into a sterilized jar using a ladle and funnel.
  • Secure the lid on the jar and let it rest at room temperature for 24 hours to set.
  • Store the jam in the refrigerator for up to one month.

Notes

To ensure your jam sets properly, make sure to simmer it long enough to reach the right consistency. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can blend the mixture before simmering. Always use sterilized jars to prevent spoilage, and consider experimenting with the amount of lavender to achieve your desired flavor strength.
