Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk or electric mixer
  • 1 9-inch pie pan
  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pecans chopped
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and salt.
  • Add the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  • Pour the brownie mixture into a 9-inch pie pan, spreading it evenly.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, combine the corn syrup and brown sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the chopped pecans.
  • Pour the pecan mixture over the brownie layer in the pie pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 55 minutes or until the filling is set.
  • Allow the pie to cool for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

For best results, let the pie cool completely before slicing to ensure clean cuts and prevent the filling from oozing out. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a delightful contrast of flavors and textures.
