Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound sausage sliced
  • 2 cup Brussel sprouts halved
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 2 stalk celery diced
  • 3 clove garlic minced
  • 4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoon parsley chopped

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the sausage slices and cook until browned.
  • Remove the sausage and set aside.
  • In the same pot, add onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic.
  • Sauté until vegetables are softened.
  • Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Gradually add chicken broth while stirring.
  • Bring to a simmer and add Cajun seasoning, salt, pepper, thyme, and cayenne.
  • Add Brussel sprouts and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the shrimp and cooked sausage.
  • Cook until shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  • Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider making your own chicken broth or using seafood stock. Adjust the spice level according to your preference by increasing or decreasing the amount of cayenne pepper. Be sure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy. This dish pairs well with rice or crusty bread to soak up the flavorful gumbo broth.
