Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups apples peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Transfer the apple mixture into a baking dish and spread evenly.
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, oats, and brown sugar.
  • Drizzle melted butter over the flour mixture and combine until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the crumbly topping over the apples in the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and apples are tender.
  • Remove the dish from the oven and drizzle caramel sauce over the top.
  • Allow the crisp to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch of flavor, try using a mix of apple varieties for a more complex taste. Additionally, if you prefer a thicker caramel sauce, you can make your own by simmering cream, sugar, and butter until it reaches the desired consistency. Serve the crisp warm, possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a delightful dessert experience.
