Equipment

  • 1 Frying pan
  • 1 Medium bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board

Ingredients

  • 4 slices Bread
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 Bananas sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Maple syrup
  • 1 pinch Salt

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Place the soaked bread slices in the pan and cook until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Remove the French toast from the pan and keep warm.
  • In the same pan, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter.
  • Add the sliced bananas and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  • Cook bananas until they are caramelized, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour in the maple syrup and stir gently to coat the bananas.
  • Serve the French toast topped with caramelized bananas.

Notes

For the best results, use day-old bread as it absorbs the egg mixture better without becoming too soggy. Feel free to add a dollop of whipped cream or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for extra sweetness. Adjust the amount of cinnamon and vanilla to suit your taste preferences, and ensure the bananas are ripe for optimal caramelization.
