Equipment

  • 1 Loaf pan
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Heat the milk in a small saucepan and steep the chai tea bags in it for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags and let the milk cool.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves.
  • In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and cooled chai-infused milk.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Grease the loaf pan and pour the batter into it, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a richer chai flavor, consider doubling the amount of chai tea bags when steeping in milk. Be careful not to overmix the batter, as this can make the bread tough. If you like nuts, folding in a half cup of chopped walnuts can add a nice texture to the bread.
