  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 9-inch round cake pan
  • 1 Oven
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the cake pan.
  • In the mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and chai spice blend.
  • In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  • Mix in the brewed chai tea until the batter is smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For the best results, ensure that all your ingredients are at room temperature before starting the recipe. This allows for a smoother batter and more even baking. If you prefer a stronger chai flavor, consider adding a bit more chai spice blend or using a highly brewed chai tea. The cake pairs wonderfully with a chai latte or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgence.
