  • 1 Medium saucepan
  • 1 slotted spoon
  • 1 large spoon
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 cheese grater

Ingredients

  • 200 grams grated cheese
  • 100 grams all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour to the egg mixture and stir until a smooth batter forms.
  • Fold in the grated cheese and chopped parsley until evenly distributed in the batter.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring salted water to a gentle boil.
  • Using a large spoon, carefully drop spoonfuls of the cheese batter into the boiling water.
  • Cook the dumplings for about 5 minutes or until they float to the surface.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the dumplings from the water and place them on a plate to rest.
  • Melt the butter in a small pan and pour over the dumplings before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a flavorful cheese like cheddar or Gruyère to enhance the taste of your dumplings. If you prefer a crispier texture, consider lightly frying the dumplings in butter after boiling. Resting the cooked dumplings for a few minutes allows them to firm up slightly, making them easier to handle. Garnish with additional fresh parsley for added color and aroma.
