Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups pitted cherries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Whisk in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Toss the cherries with lemon juice in a separate bowl.
  • Spread the cherries evenly over the batter in the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow the cobbler to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh cherries when in season for a more vibrant flavor. If using frozen cherries, make sure they are fully thawed and drained before incorporating them into the recipe. To add an extra layer of flavor, consider sprinkling a touch of cinnamon or nutmeg over the batter before baking. Serve the cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a classic touch.
