Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 Skillet or frying pan
  • 1 steamer basket
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 chopping board

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup green onions chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  • Gradually add water to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, mix together ground chicken, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper.
  • Roll the dough into a log and cut it into equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece into a thin circle using a rolling pin.
  • Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of each dough circle.
  • Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal, creating dumplings.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the dumplings until the bottoms are golden brown.
  • Transfer the dumplings to a steamer basket and steam for 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Serve the dumplings hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For the best results, ensure the dough is rested adequately to achieve the right texture for the dumplings. Steaming the dumplings after pan-frying ensures the chicken is cooked thoroughly and the dumplings remain juicy. Consider experimenting with different herbs or spices in the filling to suit your taste preferences.
