Equipment

  • 1 large skillet or wok
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 sharp knife
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 set of measuring spoons
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

  • 500 grams boneless skinless chicken breast, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the sliced chicken breast to the skillet and stir-fry until cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil and stir-fry the broccoli florets for 3 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and stir-fry for an additional 1 minute.
  • In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sugar, chicken broth, and sesame oil until smooth.
  • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the broccoli.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and broccoli, stirring to coat evenly.
  • Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, then remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, ensure the broccoli is not overcooked; it should remain bright green and slightly crisp. You can add a splash of water to the skillet while stir-frying the broccoli if it begins to stick. To enhance the flavor, consider marinating the chicken in a bit of soy sauce and cornstarch for 15 minutes before cooking.
