  • 1 cup corn chips plain
  • 1 cup potato chips ridged
  • 1 cup sour cream full-fat
  • 1 cup mayonnaise full-fat
  • 2 tablespoon ranch seasoning dry mix
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper ground

  • Stir the mixture thoroughly with the mixing spoon until smooth and well combined.
  • Fold in the chopped chives and half of the shredded cheddar cheese into the dip mixture.
  • Transfer the finished dip to the small serving bowl and smooth the top with the back of the spoon.
  • Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar cheese and the chopped parsley evenly over the top of the dip.
  • Place the small bowl of dip in the center of the large serving bowl, nestling it into the chips.
  • Serve the chip and dip bowl immediately, ensuring chips surround the dip for easy access.

Notes

For best results, you can prepare the dip up to a day in advance to let the flavors meld, then cover and refrigerate until serving, stirring just before placing it in the chip bowl. To keep chips crisp, wait to pour them into the serving bowl until right before guests arrive, and consider offering a mix of sturdy chips and dippers like pretzels or vegetable sticks for scooping. Adjust seasoning after chilling, since flavors can mellow, by adding a pinch more ranch mix, salt, or pepper to taste. If the dip thickens too much in the fridge, loosen it with a tablespoon of milk at a time until it reaches your preferred consistency.
