Equipment

  • 1 Crockpot
  • 1 Skillet
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can kidney beans 15 ounces, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can pinto beans 15 ounces, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can black beans 15 ounces, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can baked beans 15 ounces
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.
  • Drain excess fat from the skillet and transfer the beef mixture to the crockpot.
  • Add the kidney beans, pinto beans, black beans, and baked beans to the crockpot.
  • Pour in the barbecue sauce, ketchup, and brown sugar.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Mix all ingredients in the crockpot until well combined.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours.
  • Once cooked, let the beans rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a smokier flavor, consider adding a few drops of liquid smoke to the mixture. You can adjust the sweetness and spice level by varying the amount of brown sugar and chili powder according to your taste preference. If you prefer a thicker consistency, remove the lid of the crockpot for the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow excess liquid to evaporate.
