Equipment

  • 1 CrockPot or slow cooker
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Boneless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/3 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, olive oil, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.
  • Pour the mixture over the chicken in the crockpot, ensuring each piece is well coated.
  • Cover the crockpot with its lid and cook on low for 4 hours.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken from the crockpot and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth, then stir into the sauce in the crockpot.
  • Turn the crockpot to high and cook the sauce for an additional 5-10 minutes until it thickens.
  • Return the chicken to the crockpot and coat with the thickened sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh garlic as it enhances the flavor significantly. If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can increase the amount of cornstarch. Adjust the red pepper flakes according to your heat preference. Make sure to taste the sauce before serving to adjust seasoning if necessary. This dish pairs well with steamed rice or a side of vegetables.
