Equipment

  • 1 Crockpot
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
  • chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, garlic, and ginger.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the crockpot.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for 4 hours until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Remove the chicken from the crockpot and set aside to rest.
  • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with cold water to create a slurry.
  • Add the slurry to the sauce in the crockpot and stir well.
  • Allow the sauce to thicken in the crockpot on high for about 5 minutes.
  • Return the chicken to the crockpot to coat with the thickened sauce.
  • Serve the chicken with sauce, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure that the chicken is fully submerged in the sauce while cooking to absorb maximum flavor. If you prefer a thicker sauce, adjust the cornstarch slurry to your liking. Serve the chicken over steamed rice or alongside stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
