  • 1 Small mixing bowl optional, for seasoning blend
  • 1 whisk or fork
  • 1 Rubber spatula
  • 1 Measuring cups set
  • 1 Measuring spoons set
  • 1 plastic wrap or airtight container
  • 1 serving bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour cream full-fat
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp
  • 0.5 cup canned diced tomatoes drained
  • 0.5 cup canned black beans drained and rinsed
  • 0.25 cup green onions thinly sliced
  • 0.25 cup pickled jalapeños finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper or to taste
  • 2 cup Doritos nacho cheese flavor crushed
  • 2 tablespoon fresh cilantro optional; chopped

Instructions

  • Add the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise to the medium mixing bowl.
  • Whisk or beat the mixture until completely smooth and creamy.
  • Add taco seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper and mix until evenly combined.
  • Fold in shredded cheddar cheese, drained tomatoes, black beans, green onions, jalapeños, and cilantro with a spatula.
  • Gently fold in 1.5 cups of the crushed Doritos, reserving 0.5 cup for topping.
  • Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill and allow flavors to meld.
  • Just before serving, sprinkle the remaining crushed Doritos evenly over the top of the dip.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with extra salt or pepper if desired.
  • Serve immediately with whole Doritos chips or other dippers of choice.

Notes

For best flavor, make the dip a few hours ahead so the spices fully bloom, but always add the crushed Doritos topping at the last minute to keep them crunchy. If you prefer a milder dip, reduce or omit the jalapeños and use a mild taco seasoning; for extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne or use spicy Doritos. Ensure the cream cheese is truly softened so the base mixes smoothly without lumps, and drain tomatoes and beans well to prevent the dip from becoming watery. This dip keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days without the chip topping; stir before serving and add fresh crushed Doritos each time.
