  • 1 measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples peeled and cored
  • 2 can crescent roll dough 8 ounces each
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup Mountain Dew soda

Instructions

  • Slice each apple into 8 equal wedges.
  • Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles.
  • Place an apple wedge on the wide end of each triangle and roll up.
  • Arrange the rolled dumplings in a baking dish.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add sugar and vanilla extract to the melted butter and stir until combined.
  • Pour the butter mixture evenly over the dumplings.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
  • Pour Mountain Dew soda around the edges of the baking dish, avoiding the tops of the dumplings.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let the dumplings cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the best flavor, choose tart apples like Granny Smith which balance well with the sweetness of the sugar and soda. If you prefer a more caramelized top, increase the oven temperature to 375 degrees Fahrenheit for the last 5 minutes of baking. Feel free to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream when serving to enhance the dessert's richness.
