Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Frying pan
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Plate lined with paper towels
  • 1 shallow dish for coating

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
  • Add the bread pieces to the egg mixture and let them soak for about a minute.
  • In a shallow dish, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat and melt the butter.
  • Add the soaked bread pieces to the pan and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Remove the cooked bites from the pan and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess butter.
  • Roll the warm French toast bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  • Let the churro bites rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, use stale or day-old bread as it absorbs the egg mixture better without becoming too soggy. Keep an eye on the heat of the pan to avoid burning the butter or the churro bites. Adjust the cinnamon sugar mixture to taste, and consider adding a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
