Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups potatoes sliced
  • 1 can 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup French's crispy fried onions
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the potatoes and place them in a mixing bowl.
  • Add condensed cream of mushroom soup and milk to the potatoes.
  • Season with salt and black pepper, then mix well.
  • Transfer the potato mixture to the baking dish.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle French's crispy fried onions on top.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.
  • Allow the dish to rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a mandoline slicer to ensure evenly thin potato slices, which will cook more uniformly. Be careful when adding the crispy fried onions to prevent them from burning during the final bake. Adjust the seasoning to your preference, and feel free to add other herbs such as thyme or rosemary for additional flavor if desired.
