Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 small knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Baking Tray
  • 1 pastry brush (optional
  • 1 Oven or toaster oven

Ingredients

  • 8 slices white bread
  • 4 tablespoon unsalted butter softened
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 clove garlic finely minced
  • 2 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven or toaster oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and dried oregano in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix the ingredients together with a spoon until you have a smooth, spreadable garlic butter.
  • Lay the bread slices flat on a cutting board.
  • Spread a generous layer of the garlic butter mixture evenly over one side of each bread slice.
  • Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese evenly over the buttered side of each slice if using.
  • Arrange the bread slices in a single layer on the baking tray, buttered side up.
  • Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the tops are lightly toasted.
  • Remove the tray from the oven and let the garlic bread rest for 2 minutes to cool slightly.
  • Slice each piece diagonally if desired and serve warm.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh garlic rather than garlic powder, and adjust the amount to your taste if you prefer a stronger or milder garlic kick. Day-old bread works well because it toasts up crisp without becoming too hard. If you like softer garlic bread, cover the tray loosely with foil for the first few minutes of baking, then uncover to brown. You can add shredded mozzarella on top for a cheesy version, but keep an eye on it so it melts and browns without burning. Leftover garlic bread can be reheated in a hot oven for a few minutes to restore crispness rather than using a microwave, which tends to make it chewy.
