Equipment

  • 1 9-inch pie pan
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt into the mixture and whisk until well combined.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  • Gently fold in the flour using a spatula until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pie pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly gooey.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to rest and cool in the pan for 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a perfectly gooey center, ensure not to overbake the pie; it should be slightly underdone in the center when you remove it from the oven. Allowing it to rest will help it set without drying out. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
