Equipment

  • 1 Skillet or frying pan
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Butter knife

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 2 slices cheese any variety

Instructions

  • Preheat the skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
  • Add the cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
  • Cover the cheese with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  • Cook for 3-5 minutes on one side until golden brown and the cheese starts to melt.
  • Flip the sandwich using the spatula and cook the other side for an additional 3-5 minutes until golden brown and cheese is fully melted.
  • Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for 1 minute before cutting and serving.

Notes

For an extra crispy sandwich, use a combination of butter and mayonnaise on the outside of the bread before grilling. Experiment with different types of cheese or add extras like ham, tomato slices, or a sprinkle of garlic powder for additional flavor. Make sure to use medium heat to prevent the bread from burning before the cheese melts.
