Equipment

  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 Small bowl
  • 1 slotted spoon
  • 1 Soup ladle

Ingredients

  • 200 grams ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 30 wonton wrappers
  • 1 liter chicken broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 2 spring onions sliced
  • 100 grams baby spinach
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, mix the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic until well combined.
  • Place 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  • Wet the edges of the wonton wrappers with water and fold to seal, ensuring no air is trapped inside.
  • Bring the chicken broth and water to a boil in a large pot.
  • Add the wontons to the boiling broth and cook for 5-7 minutes or until they float to the top.
  • Add the fish sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir in the spring onions and baby spinach, and cook until the spinach wilts.
  • Remove from heat and let the soup rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Use a soup ladle to serve the soup into bowls.

Notes

When making wontons, ensure the edges are sealed properly to prevent them from opening during cooking. The soup can be customized with additional vegetables like bok choy or mushrooms. If you want more flavor in the broth, consider adding a piece of star anise or a dash of white pepper.
