Equipment

  • 1 Loaf pan
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup hot fudge sauce warmed

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease the loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  • In the mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until well combined.
  • Add eggs and vanilla extract to the bowl and mix until smooth.
  • Sift in cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt, then fold until just combined.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips gently with the spatula.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  • Drizzle the hot fudge sauce over the top of the batter.
  • Use a knife to swirl the fudge sauce into the batter.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For the best texture, do not overmix the batter after adding the dry ingredients; this ensures a tender crumb. If the top begins to brown too quickly during baking, cover the loaf loosely with foil. Allowing the bread to cool slightly will help it set and make slicing cleaner and easier.
