  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter softened
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream for frosting

  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract for frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour the 8-inch square cake pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture and beat until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until the batter is smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  • Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the frosting, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.
  • Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
  • Let the frosted cake rest for at least 1 hour before serving to set the frosting.

Notes

For the best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature before beginning. This will help the batter mix more evenly. Additionally, be cautious not to overmix the batter as it can cause the cake to be tough. If desired, personalize the cake with additional toppings such as fresh fruit or chocolate shavings. Enjoy this delightful lunchbox cake as a simple yet satisfying dessert or treat.
