Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Wire rack
  • 1 measuring cup set
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground sausage
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, and maple syrup.
  • In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the sausage mixture and mix until well combined.
  • Using a tablespoon, scoop the mixture and roll into balls.
  • Place the sausage balls on a wire rack set over a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
  • Remove from the oven and let the sausage balls rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispy texture, ensure the sausage balls are evenly spaced on the wire rack to allow heat to circulate around them. You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup to your taste. If you prefer a spicier version, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the mixture.
