Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Skillet
  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, and oregano.
  • Mix the ingredients thoroughly and form the mixture into meatballs.
  • Place the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
  • While the meatballs are baking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to the skillet to brown on all sides for about 5 minutes.
  • In a saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over low heat.
  • Add the browned meatballs to the marinara sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Slice the hoagie rolls and place the meatballs inside.
  • Top each sandwich with mozzarella cheese.
  • Place the sandwiches in the oven for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
  • Let the sandwiches rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, consider adding fresh basil or parsley to the meatball mixture. If you like a little heat, a pinch of red pepper flakes can give the meatballs a spicy kick. Additionally, to prevent the hoagie rolls from getting soggy, lightly toast them before assembling the sandwiches. Enjoy your meal with a side salad or some crispy fries for a complete dining experience.
