  • 1 Spoon
  • 1 plastic wrap
  • 1 large plate

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf round Italian bread
  • 1 cup olive salad mix
  • 1/4 pound sliced salami

  • 1/4 pound sliced mortadella
  • 1/4 pound sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/4 pound sliced mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Slice the Italian bread loaf in half horizontally.
  • Spread half of the olive salad mix on the bottom half of the bread.
  • Layer the salami, ham, mortadella, provolone, and mozzarella on top of the olive salad.
  • Spread the remaining olive salad mix on the top half of the bread.
  • Place the top half of the bread over the filled bottom half to form a sandwich.
  • Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap.
  • Let the sandwich rest at room temperature for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Unwrap the sandwich and cut into wedges before serving.

Notes

For the best results, use a high-quality olive salad mix, as it is the key flavor component of a Muffaletta Sandwich. Allowing the sandwich to rest is crucial for the flavors to develop fully. If making ahead, the sandwich can be wrapped and stored in the refrigerator for up to a day, but it should be brought to room temperature before serving for the optimal taste experience.
