Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Loaf pan
  • 1 Skillet
  • 1 Chef's knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces mushrooms finely chopped
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the onions, garlic, and mushrooms until softened.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  • Place the mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  • Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For the best flavor, use a mix of mushroom varieties if available, and ensure that the breadcrumbs are fresh or homemade. Allowing the meatloaf to rest before slicing ensures it holds its shape and retains more juices.
