Equipment

  • 1 large saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 peeler
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 sterilized jar with lid
  • 1 Ladle

Ingredients

  • 4 medium oranges
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  • Peel the oranges and remove any seeds.
  • Cut the orange flesh into small pieces.
  • Combine orange pieces, water, and lemon juice in a large saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes until the fruit is soft.
  • Add the sugar to the saucepan and stir until dissolved.
  • Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a rapid boil.
  • Continue boiling for about 10 minutes or until the mixture reaches the desired consistency.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the jam cool slightly.
  • Ladle the jam into a sterilized jar and seal with the lid.
  • Let the jam rest at room temperature for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

To ensure the jam sets properly, you can test its consistency by placing a small amount on a chilled plate; if it wrinkles when pushed, it's ready. Additionally, always sterilize the jar properly to prevent spoilage and extend the shelf life of your homemade jam.
