Equipment

  • 1 Medium saucepan
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 colander

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pastina pasta
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley optional

Instructions

  • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
  • Add 1/4 teaspoon salt to the boiling water.
  • Stir in 1 cup of pastina pasta.
  • Cook the pastina for about 5 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Drain the pastina using a colander and return it to the saucepan.
  • Stir in 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter until melted.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese and combine well.
  • Pour in 1 tablespoon of heavy cream and mix until creamy.
  • Season with a pinch of black pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with 1 teaspoon of chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

For best results, it's important to keep stirring the pastina while it cooks to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Adjust the seasoning to your preference, and feel free to add more cheese or cream for a richer flavor. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add a splash more cream or a bit of the pasta cooking water.
