Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 steamer or large pot with steaming rack
  • 1 non-stick pan
  • 1 slotted spoon
  • 1 pastry brush

Ingredients

  • 200 grams ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • 1 cup cabbage finely shredded
  • 1 pack dumpling wrappers
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced ginger, minced garlic, green onions, and cabbage.
  • Mix the ingredients well until fully combined.
  • Place a dumpling wrapper on a flat surface and spoon 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture into the center.
  • Dip your finger in water and moisten the edges of the wrapper.
  • Fold the wrapper in half and press the edges together to seal, ensuring no air is trapped inside.
  • Repeat with the remaining wrappers and pork mixture.
  • Let the dumplings rest for 30 minutes.
  • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add vegetable oil.
  • Place dumplings in the pan, ensuring they are not touching.
  • Cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2 minutes.
  • Add 1/4 cup of water to the pan and cover with a lid to steam for 5 minutes until cooked through.
  • Carefully remove the lid and let any remaining water evaporate.
  • Transfer dumplings to a steamer or pot with steaming rack and steam for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Ensure the dumpling wrappers are properly sealed to prevent them from opening during cooking. You can use different folding techniques for your dumplings, such as pleating, to enhance their presentation. Adjust the seasoning to taste, and add chili oil for a spicy kick. If you want to prepare ahead of time, you can freeze uncooked dumplings on a baking sheet before transferring them to a plastic bag for storage.
