  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk or spoon
  • 1 Measuring cups set
  • 1 Measuring spoons set
  • 1 plastic wrap or airtight container

Ingredients

  • 2 cup sour cream full-fat
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise full-fat
  • 2 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper ground
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon fresh chives finely chopped optional

Instructions

  • Add sour cream and mayonnaise to the mixing bowl.
  • Whisk together until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  • Sprinkle in dried minced onion, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce to the bowl.
  • Stir thoroughly until all seasonings are evenly distributed.
  • Fold in chopped chives if using.
  • Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or transfer the dip to an airtight container.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  • Stir the dip once more before serving and adjust salt or pepper to taste.
  • Serve chilled with potato chips.

Notes

For best flavor, let the dip rest longer—up to a few hours or overnight—so the dried onions fully soften and the seasonings blend into the sour cream and mayonnaise base; always use full‑fat dairy for better texture, taste, and stability, and if the dip becomes too thick after chilling, you can loosen it with a tablespoon or two of milk or buttermilk while carefully adjusting salt; keep the dip refrigerated and discard any leftovers that have sat out at room temperature for more than 2 hours, and feel free to customize by adding smoked paprika, cayenne, shredded cheese, or finely chopped herbs to match your taste or the style of chips you’re serving.
