Equipment

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Frying pan

Ingredients

  • 2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cooked sausage crumbled
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
  • Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients and cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and cooked sausage.
  • Pour in the buttermilk and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each biscuit.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  • While the biscuits are baking, melt the remaining butter and stir in the chopped parsley.
  • Once the biscuits are done, brush them with the melted butter and parsley mixture.
  • Allow the biscuits to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

To ensure the biscuits are fluffy, make sure not to overmix the dough and keep the butter cold, as this will help create a flaky texture. You can also experiment with different types of cheese or add herbs like chives for additional flavor variations.
