Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 Loaf pan
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 measuring spoon set
  • 1 whisk or spatula
  • 1 Kitchen towel

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast, then let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • Add melted butter, milk, and salt to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
  • Gradually add flour to the mixture, stirring with a spatula or whisk until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a loaf.
  • Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan and cover with the towel again, allowing it to rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  • Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To ensure the best texture, make sure the water is not too hot as it can kill the yeast. It's also important to knead the dough sufficiently to develop gluten, which will give the bread its structure. If you prefer a softer crust, you can brush the top of the loaf with melted butter just after it comes out of the oven.
