  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 pair of tongs
  • 1 Baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 4 Italian sausages
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 2 bell peppers sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sausages to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the sliced onion, bell peppers, and garlic.
  • Sauté the vegetables until they are tender, about 10 minutes.
  • Season the vegetables with salt and black pepper.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet.
  • Return the sausages to the skillet with the vegetables and pour in the marinara sauce.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes to heat through and meld flavors.
  • Divide the sausage and pepper mixture evenly among the hoagie rolls.
  • Top each sandwich with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake the sandwiches in the preheated oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or a splash of balsamic vinegar to the pepper mixture while it cooks. Additionally, for a crispier sandwich, toast the hoagie rolls lightly before assembling the sandwich. Enjoy this classic dish with a side of chips or a simple salad for a complete meal.
