Equipment

  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 Small bowl
  • 1 slotted spoon
  • 1 Ladle

Ingredients

  • 250 grams shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 30 wonton wrappers
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 bunch green onions chopped
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 carrot thinly sliced
  • 1 cup bok choy chopped
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Finely chop the shrimp and mix with ginger, garlic, and a pinch of salt in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Place a teaspoon of shrimp filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  • Brush the edges of the wrapper with beaten egg and fold to seal into a wonton shape.
  • Bring the chicken broth to a boil in a large pot.
  • Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper to the broth, stirring well.
  • Carefully add the wontons to the boiling broth and cook for 5-7 minutes until they float to the top.
  • Add carrot slices and bok choy to the broth and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer the wontons to serving bowls.
  • Ladle the soup over the wontons and garnish with chopped green onions.
  • Allow the soup to rest for 10 minutes before serving to enhance the flavors.

Notes

For the best results, ensure that the wonton wrappers are sealed properly to prevent them from opening up during cooking. If you prefer a spicier soup, consider adding a dash of chili oil or red pepper flakes to the broth. Additionally, try to use fresh shrimp for the filling to enhance the overall flavor of the dish.
